Dry Fog Humidification System
for Corrugated Box Manufacturing

Reducing corrugated box crackings and pasting failures with AKIMist® "E" Dry Fog Humidification System

Benefits

  • Reduced corrugated cardboard cracks by maintaining a moisture retention rate between 6 to 8% with humidification.
    ・Reduced corrugated cardboard pasting failures.
    ・Stabilized folding accuracy.
  • Improved punching accuracy.

Dry Fog that AKIMist® "E" produces is an ultra-fine fog with a uniform, mean droplet diameter of 10 μm or less.
One unit of AKIMist® "E" can produce maximum 14.4 L/hour (3.8 GPH) of Dry Fog at air pressure 0.5 MPa (73 psi).

Energy-saving humidification system

Compared with steam humidification systems, direct spray humidification that lowers room temperature by 2 degrees C helps reduce cooling load on air-conditioners and CO2 emission.

Case Study

Area to be humidified Corrugated cardboard storage room 59 x 112 x 23 feet = 152,000 cubic feet
 Half-finished box storage room 30 x 98 x 23 feet = 68,000 cubic feet
Spray volume  Corrugated cardboard storage room 25GPH
Half-finished box storage room 10GPH
Target humidity level  70% at 50 to 68 degrees F
Storage time Approximately 3 hours

Failure Occurrences Before and After the installation

The total failure rate greatly decreased by reducing the pasting failures and the cracks that low humidity caused.

Why Is Dry Fog Non-Wetting?

Dry Fog that AKIMist® "E" produces is an ultra-fine fog with a mean droplet diameter of 10 μm or less, which doesn't wet the objects it touches.

Small droplets rebound from an object, but large droplets burst and wet the object. Dry Fog droplets are so fine that they do not burst or wet the objects it touches.
