Basics of Spray Nozzles | Thread Size and Type, Diagonal Dimension Calculation

Thread Size and Type
Threads in our product catalogs are tapered pipe threads unless otherwise specified.
The thread size and type in the drawings and dimension charts are described according to ISO standards.
However, when placing an order, please specify the thread size using our thread code as shown below.
Example:
[ISO → Our Thread Code]
R1/4 → 1/4M
Rc1 1/2 → 1*1/2F
(Metric thread) M10 → M10
- The ISO standard and BS (British) standard threads are compatible with each other, but ISO and NPT (American) threads are not compatible due to differences in thread pitch.
- For ISO standard parallel male threads, a grade indicating the tolerance of the effective diameter is added after the thread size, represented by the letters ‘A’ or ‘B.’
- In our thread specifications, we omit the pitch for metric threads if they use the standard coarse pitch.
For example, “M10” indicates a coarse pitch of 1.5mm. However, for fine pitch threads, we specify the pitch, such as “M10 x 1.25”.
Diagonal Dimension Calculation
To calculate the approximate diagonal dimension of a hexagon, multiply the width across flats by 1.16.
Example: In the figure below, the dimension H is 12 mm, so the diagonal dimension would be 13.92 (12 × 1.16 = 13.92).
