AKIJet - The Origin of Our Spray Nozzle Development

AKIJet is a pneumatic fine fog spray nozzle that re-atomizes droplets by causing them to collide with one another after initial atomization.

It was a breakthrough in our nozzle technology, enabling the production of finer, more uniform fog than ever before.

Producing fine fog is not simply a matter of making the mean droplet diameter smaller. The key is to suppress the formation of large droplets that cause wetting.

To achieve this, we developed an atomization method that causes finely atomized droplets to collide with one another under optimum conditions, resulting in even finer, more uniform droplets.

This atomization principle led to the creation of AKIJet, a spray nozzle capable of producing ultra-fine, non-wetting "Dry Fog" with a mean droplet diameter of 10 µm or less, free of coarse droplets.

This fine, uniform fog brought major improvements to applications where conventional spray nozzles had made wetting unavoidable. It expanded the practical value of fog across a wide range of fields, including space humidification, humidity control, gas cooling, dust suppression, and disinfection.

The technologies and concepts refined through the development of AKIJet later led to a wide variety of spray nozzles and were carried forward into product lines including the Dry Fog humidifier AKIMist "E", the BIM Series -one of our leading fine fog nozzle lines and the GSIM Series, a standard choice for gas cooling applications.

AKIJet holds a special place in IKEUCHI's history. It marked the beginning of our spray nozzle development and laid the foundation for our spray nozzle legacy.
