Challenges Faced by the Customer

Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes for aseptic filling machines involve foam cleaning followed by hot water rinsing. Traditionally, two different spray nozzles are needed: one for foam and another for hot water. However, the customer requested a solution that would allow them to switch between these two cleaning liquids using a single nozzle.

When they previously tried a PVDF tank cleaning nozzle from another company, they encountered an issue: the inlet port of the nozzle expanded due to the heat from the hot water, causing it to drop off. As a result, the ideal solution would have been a stainless steel shaft that wouldn’t expand and a lightweight resin rotating body that wouldn’t interfere with rotation during foam cleaning.

Proposals from IKEUCHI

We designed and manufactured a tailored two-dimensional rotating nozzle, the ES model, with a shaft and bearings made from stainless steel 316L and a rotating body made from PTFE.

Benefits Achieved

  • As requested by the customer, the single nozzle can now be used for both hot water and foam cleaning.
  • Cleaning time has been reduced, and the process now runs smoothly without any issues.
