Challenges Faced by the Customer

An industrial felt manufacturing plant had been applying a chemical agent within a machine on its production line, using spray nozzles.
The purpose of this process was to prevent fiber entanglement inside the machine after feeding raw nonwoven fibers, which serve as the base material for felt.

To ensure optimal processing, the amount of the agent applied needed to be precisely controlled for each lot, based on the raw material type and input quantity.
However, the existing system was large-scale and manually complex, making accurate control of the spray volume difficult.

To resolve this issue, the customer approached IKEUCHI to design and build an automatic control system that enables precise adjustment of spray volume and operating parameters.

Proposals from IKEUCHI

We proposed an automatic checmical spray control system designed to meet the following requirements:

  • Compact and streamlined configuration that can be easily retrofitted to the existing production line
  • Simple setup of spray conditions, adjustable according to the type and quantity of input material
  • Automatic spray on-off control triggered by sensors detecting the presence of nonwoven material on the conveyor
  • Integration with nozzle headers capable of spraying the specified amount of agent accurately and uniformly, ensuring optimal system performance

Benefits Achieved

  • While maintaining a simple configuration, the system enables detailed parameter settings, resulting in significantly improved operability.
  • Achieving accurate and uniform spraying of the appropriate amount of agent for each lot has contributed to stable product quality.
