Cielo Verde Quebec Inc. is a licensed producer of medical and recreational cannabis, operating two facilities in Pointe-Claire and Lachute, Quebec, including its Alta Verde brand. Cultivation at this scale means managing distinct humidity targets across every stage of the grow cycle: roughly 65% in the mother room, 70% in vegetation, and a tighter 55–60% band through flowering, all while balancing plant transpiration and shared HVAC across rooms. We sat down with Felix, Master Grower at Alta Verde’s Lachute facility, to hear how the AKIMist®E Dry Fog Humidifier changed the way his team approaches climate control.

Mother Room Target Humidity: 65% RH

Vegetation Room Target Humidity: 70% RH

Flowering Room Target Humidity: 55-60% RH
Before AKIMist®E, Felix relied on standalone ultrasonic humidifiers positioned on the floor, paired with dehumidification and whatever humidity the plants themselves generated through transpiration. The setup created a persistent lag: once a room was dehumidified, bringing humidity back up could take significant time, especially with lower-transpiration genetics, leaving VPD (vapor pressure deficit) out of balance and putting plants under stress.
The old humidifiers created problems of their own. As an ultrasonic system, it produced a wet mist that settled and pooled rather than staying airborne, leading to standing water, algae growth, and mineral buildup on the floor, a maintenance headache Felix was glad to leave behind. AKIMist®E works differently: compressed air atomizes the water into a true Dry Fog that evaporates into the air rather than collecting as liquid, eliminating standing water and the mold and pest risk that comes with it, a serious concern in a facility cultivating for both medical and recreational markets under Health Canada’s regulatory standards.

What set AKIMist®E apart wasn’t just performance. It was integration. Felix’s previous humidifier ran independently, disconnected from the rest of his climate system. AKIMist®E ties directly into his existing controls, giving him one unified system to manage humidity, temperature, and CO2 together. “It’s more precise, and it’s more effective too,” he says.
Installation was straightforward: connecting the units to the control panel was enough to get AKIMist®E working automatically alongside his existing climate control setup. Because Felix’s rooms share HVAC, that integration lets him hold a consistent, narrow humidity range around his target, without the two systems fighting each other.
The difference showed up immediately. “The day I installed the system for the first time, I was like, ‘Dang, I should have changed it sooner,'” Felix recalls. AKIMist®E’s air-pressure control means water no longer traces onto plants or pools on the floor, eliminating the algae and buildup issues of the old setup. Felix says the improved VPD control has translated directly into healthier plants, better yield, and increased THC content.
Cleanliness improvements carried into compliance and labor, too. With less water on the floor and less buildup to manage, Felix says the rooms are visibly cleaner, requiring less manual cleaning labor while more easily meeting regulatory standards.
Mold risk, once a real concern, is no longer top of mind. “If I have too much water, I can just [change the] air pressure,” Felix explains. Combined with tighter VPD control, that’s given him confidence he didn’t have with the old system, even if habit still has him checking rooms more often than he strictly needs to.
Remote monitoring has changed his day-to-day routine, as well. Where the old humidifier operated as its own disconnected unit, AKIMist®E is fully integrated into the facility’s main control system, meaning Felix can monitor and adjust humidity from his phone or laptop, including from home.
Because Alta Verde runs AKIMist®E on an RO (reverse osmosis) water system with a small amount of cleaning solution in the lines, mineral buildup isn’t an issue and the lines stay clean without active maintenance on Felix’s part, a sharp contrast to the algae and limescale buildup that came with his old floor-based system.
Alta Verde has expansion plans underway, and Felix says AKIMist®E is now the default as those new rooms develop. “If I want to increase the humidity in the future rooms, obviously I will think about the [AKIMist] system, because now I’m really satisfied with that.”
Asked what he’d tell another head grower evaluating AKIMist®E against their current fogging system, Felix doesn’t hesitate: “It’s easy to use, and it just gets easier for me. My life is easier with this system.”

A sincere thank you to Felix and the team at Alta Verde / Cielo Verde for sharing their time and experience with us.
